General Note:
View of the Mercury Cafeâ• ü, 2199 California Street, in the Five Points Neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. The two-story brick building, a former warehouse, has a stepped parapet, a row of five double-hung windows on the second floor and a row of four windows covered with bars on the first floor. A sign reads: "Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Mercury Cafeâ• ü, Theater, Cabaret." Marilyn Megenity opened the Mercury Cafeâ• ü in this building in 1990. The cafe has been in twelve previous locations since being founded by Megenity in 1975. In addition to serving food, the cafe hosts concerts, poetry readings, dance classes, and community events.
