The Gothic Revival-style church was built in 1887 as Denver's First German Methodist Episcopal Church. From 1935 to 1963 it served as the Japanese Methodist Church, building has also housed the Zion Temple Pentecostal Apostolic Church, the Gospel Mission Church and the California Street Community Church. The red brick building has a rusticated stone foundation, an L-shaped plan and a cross-gabled roof.
