General Note:
View of the entrance to the Central Library branch, Denver Public Library (1955; Burnham F. Hoyt, Arthur Fisher and Alan Fisher) at 10 West Fourteenth (14th) Street in the Civic Center neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. Shows the semicircular glass bay on the north side of the library building. Built in an International Style, the library's subtle play on classical composition includes two-story window bands representing a glazed colonnade. The reinforced concrete frame is clad with Indiana limestone, shot-blasted to raise the horizontal grain. The entry trim and veneer on the foundation are polished, dark green Austrian granite. Lettering above the entry reads: "The City and County of Denver" and "The Public Library 1955." The state capital is in the distance.
