The saddle blanket in this photo was a jerga, a Hispanic textile woven in long strips of yarn that produced a herringbone and checked pattern. The three adobe structures that appear in the background were the Gallegos and Vigil Saloon (left), the Costilla County Courthouse (center), and the Gallegos House (right)."
