Notes

Summary:
View of a procession at the first annual César Chávez day celebration near the intersection of West 7th Avenue and Galapago Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, Denver, Colorado. Members of the César Chávez Peace and Justice of Denver Committee are part of the procession. Mexican American Roman Del Costillo wears the red huelga, borrowed from Abelardo "Lalo" Delgado who received it from Cesar Chavez during the grape boycotts. A Metro student carries the banner of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Councilwoman Ramona Martinez, on the right carries a red flag. In the rear, is Michelle Martinez, a law student at the time and later a public defender in Denver. Also in the rear is Senator Bob Martinez and Senator Rob Hernandez who along with Councilwoman Martinez wrote the law making Cesar Chavez' birthday a holiday in the City and County of Denver. Shows a brick building and a street sign that reads: "Galapago St. 700 W."
