From inventory: "Casimiro Barela, Colorado State Senator. Senator Barela was born in Embudo, New Mexico on March 4, 1847. In his twenties, he moved to Trinidad, Colorado where among other business activities, he owned a ranch. He was elected justice of the peace when he was twenty-two years old, beginning a career extending 40 years as a public servant and legislator in Colorado"
