Mexican American sculptor Eduardo Martinez poses in his studio beside the clay model for his oversized bronze sculpture of Joe P. Martinez, the first Hispanic to receive a Congressional Medal of Honor in World War II. The sculpture was a commission for the grounds of the Colorado State Capitol.

From inventory: "Born in 1947, Emanuel Martinez attended Manual High School. In the photo, Martinez stands by his completed statue of a U.S. Veteran. Emanuel served on numerous art organization boards such as The Colorado Council on the Arts, Chicano Humanities and Arts Council, and Museo de las Americas. He was also active as an Advisory Committee Member for The Denver School for the Arts. Emanuel served as Director for the Citywide Mural Program of Denver and statewide mural programs. Emanuel's murals, which celebrate Mexican history and Chicano identity, can be found throughout Denver."
