From inventory: "José Victor García, born in 1832 in New Mexico traded with Apache, Navajo and Ute Indians, a business that spanned seven years. He served in the New Mexico Territorial Legislature from 1859 to 1860. He settled in Conejos County, Colorado in 1855 and was elected Conejos County Justice of Peace in 1857. Between 1865 - 1867, he represented both Conejos and Costilla Counties in the Colorado Territorial Legislature as a Republican. José married María Candelaria Jaques in 1854 and they had three children. After his wife's death, he married Trinidad Silva by whom he had nine children."
