County Republican Chairman Reviews
Results Of Election, Voters' Reactions
Brighton Post-election exam-
ination of results was made by
Adams County GOP Chairman
Charles Taylor was an eye-opener
to many Republicans, and to Dem-

In the State House race, the
victor, Seiji Horiuchi increased
his already wide acquaintance in
the county, and also his work as
an agricultural consultant gained
more friends for him in the rural
areas of the county, the chairman
observed.
His GOP running mate, Robert
Tonsing, Taylor felt, was not well
known in the county until near elec-
tion time. Tonsing lost the election.

Explains Leadership ^ &
Brighton The new State Rep- ^
resentative from Adams county,
Seiji Horiuchi took the occasion,
last week, of his talk to a youth
group to state his views on the
substance and meaning of leader-
ship.
Speaking before 4-H Merryma-
kers Club members at Hazeltine
school, Horiuchi, the first nisei
state legislator, suggested that
leadership means doing things for
others. "Sometimes it means
standing alone," he admitted,
"sometimes to be a busybody,
sometimes to stand fast for what
is right."
Too many leaders, he, said, want
to rise to high positions, but have
no time to serve as local leaders
and to serve their own commun-
ities.
