five Waseda University students
may be dog-trotting into town one
day in May, enroute to New York

eager five have scheduled visits
here at Regis College and DU
campuses. The boys, under leader-
ship of Noboru Tajima, will come
here from Salt Lake City, and from

INJURED IN ACCIDENT
Mrs. Chiyo Kanemoto of Long-
mont sustained painful injury to her
legs recently. A vehicle struck
her while she was attempting to
remove ski equipment from the
trunk of her auto. Mrs. Kane-
moto, who was to have joined
Brighton YBA skiiers for their
trip to Loveland Valley thatmorn-
ing, is confined at St. Lukes
Hospital.
County Party Leader
Charles A. Taylor, one night
light last weeK, came out of a
lively intra-party meeting with the
post of Adams County Republican
Central Committee chairmanship-
-his third straight term in the
office.
It was Taylors party and his
committee which helped to upset
the long-dominant Democratic
party reign of Democratic party
demination in the county, and en-
abled several Republicans, includ-
ing State Rep. Seiji Horiuchi, to
capture elective positions.

**I dont know of a single nisei
in the local clubs which promote
the art of public speaking, ob-
served Robert Horiuchi, past
president of the Knights of Colum-
bus Toastmasters Club and now its
area public relations chairman.
If there are niseis interested in
this activity, Horiuchi said he
would be glad to help them to be-'
come affiliated with one of the
clubs which promote the art of
public speaking.
He was toastmaster rft a recent
speech contest held by the Toast-
masters club which now numbers
about one-half Catholics aiid one-
half Protestants.

SERVICE FOR MRS.
TAKAMINE HELD
Services were held for the late
Mrs. Shige Takamine Tuesday at
the Buddhist Church, and burial
services were held Wednesday at
Riverside cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Ar-
thur FusakichiTakamine, and their
children, Mrs. Haruko Agatsuma,
Tol and Terrie Takamine of Den-
ver, Richie Takamine of Greeley
and Marian Takamine of Chicago.
Compete In Fresno
Judo Tournament
A trio of judoists were to fly
out to west coast today to com-
pete in the 11th national AAU
championships in Fresno, Calif#
They will return Sunday.
Members of the trio are: heavy-
weight div., Joon Hi Song, yodan,
of Colo. Springs; 176 lb. div.,
Bond Busch of CU, nidan; and
150 lb. div., Takayoshi Sakai, ni-
dan of Denver. They will be ac-
companied by Tooru Takamatsu,
godan, of Denver Judo School.

Elevate Priest To
Honorary Position
Members of the board of Tri-
State Buddhist Church recently met
in executive session and decided to
confer emeritus rank upon the Rev.
Yoshitaka Tamai.
The action was taken in re-
cognition of the priest's 30 years
service to the church. The Rev.
Noboru Tsunoda will assume the
position of principal priest of the
church.
Its parish, coveringNebr., Wyo.,
and Colo., is perhaps the largest
in the U.S.
The board also decided to send
three members of the churchs
teaching staff to attend a national
Buddhist Sunday School conference
in San Francisco April 27-28.
Named to attend the affair were:
Philip Miyazawa, Kaz Sakamoto
and Tom Koshi.
The board also decided to con-
tribute $500 to the Nisei Memor-
ial Fund organized by the Cathay
Post, and, should it so request,
provide without charge the '
churchs movie facilities for the
funds benefit.

affair.

eral chairman of the program

A colorful odori program, films
on Japan, native exhibits, and add-
resses by members of the societys
sponsoring committee to state its
objectives, served to round out the
evening.
Mme. Tamiji Onouye directed
the dances. Participants included
Mariko Komata, Nobuko Warren,
Tsugi Okuno, Michiko Karakawa,
Yuri Ariki, Shizue Asano, Yayoi
Kuroda, Homer Iwata, Takino

A total of 21,090 registered
aliens live in the state, accord-
ing to John Clingari, Immigration
Service district director in Den-
ver.
Of the total, nearly 19,000 are
permanent residents and less than
2,400 are alien visitors and stu-
dents.
Meanwhile, three more Japanese
in the state became naturalized
citizens during February, he re-
ported: Mrs. Mieko Suzuki Hase-
