Services For Or. Miyaaoto Friday Night
Funeral services for the late Dr.
Konai K. Miyamoto, 86, at the
Buddhist Churchs auditorium Fri-
day at 8 p.m. will be in charge of
the Japanese Assn. Interment at
10 a.m. Saturday will be in River-
side cemetery where his wife,
Hide is also buried. She died in
1955,
Dr. Miyamoto died Friday at
the home of his daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Yozan
Tsubokawa, at 3011 Dexter st. He
is also survived by two grand-
daughters, Hiroko and Motoko.
He practiced dentistry here from
1915, until his retirement in 1959,
During those years, Dr. Miyamoto
devoted his efforts to affairs of
this Japanese community. His in-
terests in Oriental art and culture
also extended his acquaintance with
civic leaders of Denver.
One of his concerns, after World
War 11, was to assist the National
JACL in its project to obtain citi-
zenship for the isseis. There, Dr.
Miyamoto drew upon his friend-
ships extending from Canadian to
the Mexican borders. Area-wide
public support obtained for this
program was largely attributed
to the efforts of this issei leader.
His statement in support of a
naturalization law was published
in the Congressional Record. He
was a recipient of fourth and
fifth degree Zuihosho decorations
from Emperor Hirohito of Japan,
