La Jara Hana matsuri ser-
vice and program were presented
at Buddhist Church here recent-
ly, with Roy Inouye presiding at
the service. The Rev. Noboru Tsu-
noda from Denver officiated in the
ceremony.
Speakers representing the
church organizations included T.
Takahashi and Mrs. Mizokami for
Sangha, Clarence Yoshida and
Alice Fujii for the Home Arts
Club, Thomas Miyake and Jean-
nie Mizokami for Seinen Kai.
Speaches were given by Gayle
Sumida, Lawrence Kawanabe and
Nobe Ashida.
Ashida, superintendent of the
Sunday School, presented perfect
attendance awards to Alan and
Stanley Yoshida, Cynthia Fujii,
Melvyn and Lorraine Ashida.
Chamber Breakfast
Brighton Henry Morimitsu,
who is associated with the Bur-
roughs Realty Co., was among
those-w^o were feted recently at
newcomers* breakfast at Pfeffer's
Inn.
Morimitsu is the son of the late
George Suekichi Morimitsu and
Mrs. Toi Morimitsu.

dergoing alteration of the boun-
daries of state senatorial and re-
presentative districts.
The county Republican organiza-
tion last week held a meeting here,
in which, for Senatorial Dist. No.
15, Hiroshi Tateyama of Ault was
elected as one of the GOP cabi-
net officers.
Oak Leaf Cluster
Colorado Springs Maj. Gen.
Dwight J ohns on, U.S. Army Air De-
fense Command, presented the Oak
Leaf Cluster to the Army Com-
mendation Medal to WAC Spec. 6
Takako S. Stapert last week at
special ceremony.
She was secretary to the man-
power officer in G-l, personnel.
Shortly following the ceremony,
she moved to her new station at
McChord USAF base in Washing-
ton.

FT. COLLINS PLANT
Ft. Collins Yozo Takeuchi,
managing director of Sankosha Co.,
a Nippon heavy equipment manu-
facturer, was a visitor last week
at the Foreman Industries, Inc.,
plant.
He was accompanied by Y. Az-
uma, production manager for the
Yutaka Electric Mfg. Co., and
J. Nishimura, all of Japan. *

during the past year, was guest
preacher at Japanese Seventh Day
Adventist Church last Saturday.
Seichono lye Leader
Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi, foun-
der of the religious group called
Seichono lye in Japan, is to ar-
rive here Fri., Apr. 12, from Chic-
ago for two lectures, according to
Henry Suzuki, who has been as-
sisting the local church of this
sect for this event.
The visitor will speak on Sat.,
7 p.m., at the Buddhist Church,
and on Sun., 7:30 p.m., in Eng-
lish, at Phipps auditorium. He
leaveS'on Mon. for Salt Lake City.
The Rev. Taniguchi, who is on
world tour, is accompanied by Mrs.
Taniguchi, Drs. Katsumi Tokuhisa
and Yoshimaru Miyao and Rev.
Yasushi Sento.
Local Seichono lye is located at

include Mrs. Mineo loka, Harry

PRESIDENT
Mrs. Louise Ota of 3356 Sho-
shone st., was among those who
were honored at recent PTA Foun-
ders' Day program at Bryant
Webster School. She is a past
president of the association at the
school, and president-elect of Hor-
ace Mann Jr. High PTA.
Iwata Mukaikubo
Miss Isao Irma Iwata and To-
kiro Mukaikubo are to be married
in ceremony to be held at Simp-
son Methodist Church, tomorrow,
Thursday.
The bride-elect is daughter of
Mrs. Yachiyo Iwata and the late
Takashi Iwata of Kumamoto, Ja-
pan. The groom-to-be is the son
of Mrs. Wasuke Nakagawa of Po-
well, Wyo. Miss Iwata's uncle,
Shizuyo Noda of 839-32nd st., will
give the bride away. Baishakunins
are Mr. and Mrs. Masano Nakat-
suka.

Sixth child and fifth boy was
welcomed by the Tom Masamoris
of 2010 Lamar st. in Lakewood
last week.
George and Reiko Nakata of 2811
Ivanhoe st. welcomed a new baby
girl last week. The child's name
is Dianne Lois, and her grand-
father, Frank Nakata of Brighton,
is to give the infant her Japanese
name.
Both the Masamori and the Na-
kata infants were born at St. An-
thony Hospital.
Assist In Prograa
Sponsorship of a major program,
such as the recent Spiritual En-
richment Week, requires many
man- hours from a host of volun-
teers. The Simpson Methodist
Church received help from many
members and friends for this
event, including:

pared by Toji and his professors

Miyamura To Attend
Hershey Miyamura of Gallup,
N. Mex holder of Congressional
Medal of Honor, accepted invita-
tion to attend unveiling ceremony of
the nisei war monument onMemor-
ial Day at Fairmount cemetery;
it was announced by Tom Masa-
mori.
Jun Oya was recently assigned
task of recording contributions
and pledges received for the me-
morial monument fund.
Nane New Envoys
Japan's government replaced
her envoys recently at both the U.
N. headquarters in New York City,
and at her embassy in Washington,
D.C.
At the U. N., Akira Matsui suc-
ceeded Ambassador Katsuo Oka-
zaki, and at her embassy in Wash.,
D.C., Ryuji Takeuchi succeeded -
Ambassador Koichiro Asakai. It is
thought in Tokyo that he may be
assigned as Nippon's roving envoy
in Europe. Assignment; to study
and size up European Common
Market.

Judge Oyer Leary, chairman of
Brighton Citizens Scholarship
Foundation.
The dentist is the JAA repre-
sentative on the board of direc-
tors of the scholarship organiza-
tion.
Robert Sakata, president of the
association, told Judge Leary that
the nisei are very much aware of
juvenile problems in the area and
that the JAA wanted to make this
contribution to help them.

nations who will conduct research

received straight A** in his
courses at CU. He is one the
roster of the Deans list in the
College of Arts and Sciences.
Another Arts-Science scholar
on the list was Cheryl Takamine,
daughter of the Ritchie Takamines
of Greeley.
The universitys admissions and
records office reported that the
college's grade point average for
the semester was 2.393. On the
basis of maximum grade point of
4.0, students belonging to frater-
nities and sororities averaged a
grade of 2.4, while non-affiliated
students* average was 2.38.

GIRL RANKS HIGH
The Isamu Abos daughter, Jan-
ice, of 2601 Hazel Ct., ranked 2nd
scholastically among the more than
600 graduating seniors at North
High. She received 3.8 grade point
average. She plans to enroll at
CSU to major in business.
Edgewater Mits and Alice Ka-
nekos son, Darryl, was named
as one of 17 alternates for the 40
college scholarships given by the
Boettcher Foundation.
Darryl is head boy at Jefferson
High School. Scholarship provides
full tuition, allowance for books and
equipment and $600 stipened per
year.
