professor at CU medical school
was the principal speaker at
graduates dinner given by Mile
Hi JACL at Premier motel Satur-
day* The speaker was Dr* James
Galvin, former director of state
institutions under Governor Mc-
Nichols.
Top Award To Kaneko
$700 worth of scholarships were
given at the Mile High JACL din-
ner to following high school gradu-
ates:
The JACL-Harry Sakata award
of $250 to Darryl Kaneko, pro-
spective freshman at Princeton
university, Princeton, N.J.
The Cathay Post $200 award to
Terri Osuga, bound for Park Col-
lege, Parkville, Mo.
The $150 Mile High JACL award
to James Suekama, enrolling at
Columbia University, New York
City.
The $100 JACL award divided
between Brightons Ray Imatani
and Paul Sasa, bound for CU this

Greeley Ken Hidaka was one
of six members of the Shutterbug
Camera Club who received a char-
ter membership certificate,
Sumer Crossroad
Colorado Springs Seventy stu-
dents from various foreign coun-
tries are here to participate in
the Summer Crossroads program
at Colorado College. Program is
under auspices of the State De-
partments International Insti-
tute for Education.
Each visitor is being housed
by a local host. Japans students
and their hosts are: Yasumasa
Kosuga, the Lawrence Hecoxes;
Tsuneo Hori, the Foster Fritchies;
and Atsuko Hirai, Dr. and Mrs.
Robert Smith.
AULT SENIOR WINS
SCHOLARSHIP TO CU
Ault Susan Kawakami, grad-
uating senior at High School, re-
ceived the Dick Slaughter, Jr.,
scholarship award to attend CU.
She is the daughter of George
and Teruko Kawakami.
Susan also received Lions Clubs
mathmatics award, won selection
as outstanding girl of the graduat-
ing class, served as president of
National Honor Society and as
secretary of Associated Students,
cited for perfect attendance for
two years, and received the short-
hand award.

delivered the class valedictorian's
address at graduation exercises
of Morrill High School. She Is
the daughter of the George Satos*

The school districts board an-
nounced that it had refunded these

Ft. Lupton A lease-purchase
agreement for tractor equipment
was reached between the Midway
Auto Service, owned by EltonKaka-
moto, and city of Brighton, it was
reported.
Equipment, valued at nearly
$3,200, includes tractor, loader
and a backhoe.
The renewable yearly agreement
was initiated on June 11. Under
the terms, Brighton may purchase
or renew lease on the equipment.
VISIT SOUTH AMERICA
The Kenichi Hidakas, pioneer
residents of Pueblo, expect to
settle down in Denver. Before do-
ing so, however, they are going'
to complete their travel plains.
Having recently returned from
visit in Hawaii, they will next pre-
pare for visit to South America*

The Counselors will hold a meet-
ing at 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 25,
at the Buddhist Church in Denver.
They are also scheduling a devo-

at YBL devotional service 8 p.m.
Saturday at the Buddhist Church.
Engineer Misitor
Visiting with the Tsunemi Tot-
sugis last week was Tsugio Tokuo
of Tokyo, a construction engineer.
Tokuo, nephew of Totsugi, is
making a swift three-week visit
of major construction sites in key
cities of the U.S. He is an engineer
for the building facilities branch
of Hitachi Construction Co. of
Japan.

Opens June 20
*pHE Tokyo Hilton Hotel, located near
both the glittering Akasaka enter-
tainment area and the Marunouchi
business district in the worlds largest
city, will be officially open on Thurs-
day June 20.
Olaf S. Bonde, general manager of
the $13 million, 12-story hotel, said
that formal opening ceremonies will
be held on the morning of June 17.
Conrad N. Hilton, President and
Chairman of the Board of the Hilton
Hotel Corporation, will officiate at the
opening, together with Noboru Gotoh,
President of the Tokyo Electric Ex-
press Railway Co., Ltd.
A group of Hilton executive and
distinguished;, guests and press men
from Europe, the U.S. and Southeast
Asia will fly t6 Tokyo by chartered
BOAC jet from Hong Kong for the
grand opening.
Hilton is leaving his Beverly Hills
home on June 1 for a- series of hotel

openings and ground-breakings. He
flies first to Montreal for the opening
of the Montreal Airport Hilton, then
to London on June 3 for a visit to
the London Hilton, already open but
which Hilton has not seen. He then
goes on to Brussels and Rotterd

opening of the Athens Hilton. He flies
back to Paris for the opening of the
Orly Hilton and then to Rome for the
opening of the Cavalieri Hilton, then
to Tehran for opening of the Royal
Tehran Hilton. He arrives in Hong
Kong June 12 for opening of the Hong
Kong Hilton and then comes to Tokyo
June 16 for the opening of the Tokyo
Hilton on the following day.
In Tokyo, Conrad Hilton will be
guest of honor, at a reception given
by T. Inumaru, President of the Ja-
pan Hotel Association at the Imperi-
