The Forum
A couple of north Denver grocery
store people, confronting three
gunmen, decided last week that they
would not meekly give in to the in-
truders' hold-up demands. The re-
sult was a hair-raising experience
for them, for their surprised cus-
tomers and probably also for die
gunmen, who as suspects, were
captured soon thereafter.
The principals were John Car-
roll, 53, and George Takahashi,
45, manager and assistant man-
agers of Buddy & Lloyds Super
market at 4280 Tennyson st.
At one time or another in the
melee, Carroll grappled with one
of the gunmen, shot with a pistol
owned by one of them. Takahashi,
who saw the trio head toward Car-
roll, at one time or another sought
to fire one of the gunman's Luger
pistol, but its safety catch was in
place; and was shot at by one of
the fleeing gunmen.
