The Forum
Green River, Wyo., is.a quiet
town set in a wide open country*
Fur traders crisscrossed it in the
early 1800's, Ben Holladay's stage
coaches rattled through there in
the 1860's, and today, tourists
speeding over U.S. Highway 30 to
Ogden and Cheyenne whiz through
that town. And that's where Dr,
Kayo Sunada grew up*
A bustling U.P, roundhouse used
to be In Green River in the early
1900's, when many isseis worked
out of there as section foremen.
Now most of them have died or
gone away*
To this wayside community,
Morijiro Sunada came from Japan
more than 40 years ago, started
a laundry business, married, rais-
ed a family of two sons and four
daughters. One oftheirsons,Kayo,
was born in mid-Pacific aboard the
Japanese ship, Haru Maru bound
for Japan.
Thus lacking American citizen-
ship, Kayo's father had to obtain
a Wyo. State Supreme Court ac-
tion to enable him to. enroll in
grammar school. And itwasn'tun-
til he had completed his Army
tour of duty in Italy in 1947 that
he received his citizenship.
Meanwhile, his father had died
in 1938* His mother resides with
his sister, Edith, in Green River.
Another sister, Mrs. Agnes Ta-
buchl resides with her family in
Reliance, northeast of Rock
Springs. His brother and other
sisters have long since departed
from Green River. And so has
Dr. Kayo Sunada, now chief of
clinical services at Ridge Home
near Arvada, recipient of a Mtn.
Plains JACL recognitions award.

Cargo Of Gold
'Morning Wind of Edo, a Toei
color film, and *'Tenka-no Osodo,"
are titles of two samurai pictures
to be shown, Wed., Dec. 25, 7
p.m., at the Buddhist Church.
A vessel with a cargo of gold,

start of the story of the first
film starring Chiezo Kataoka and

The government gold, sea storm
and treacheries notwithstanding,
must be delivered to its destina-

taoka, naturally accomplishes his
