Key Club Chief

Brighton Dr. Kenneth Uyehara
is the chairman of the Kiwanians'
Key Club, sponsor of the new Key
Club at Brighton High School. It
was installed last week at the
charter banquet.
The service unit at school serv-
es to train students for community
services and community leader-

Greeley Ray Larson and Reu-
ben Stroh, auctioneers, announc-
ed that tractors and other power
equipment on Paul Sakurai's farm

Masaemon Terasaki received
word last week of the death of
one-time Denverite, industrialist
and vice-president of the Tokyo
Denver Club, Torakichi Sato, 75.
Terasaki, from 1913-1920, was
manager of the once-flourishing
supply and labor contracting firm
here, the branch plant of Ban Co.
of Portland, Ore., where Sato was
employed. Sato subsequently re-
turned to Japan, where his inter-
ests included a Chrysler auto
agency, and hotels in Tokyo and
Atami.
CAFE REMODELED
Cheyenne Tadayoshi Takeda's
City Cafe reopened last week.
It had been closed since Dec. 23
for extensive remodeling.
CHINESE PRETZELS
Fort Lupton The James Sa-
saki residence was the meeting
place this afternoon for the Friend-
ly Circle. Mrs. Frances Funako-
shi, assisted by Mmes. Daisy and
Mayrene Kiyota, showed mem-
bers bow to make Chinese pret-

Ban, a supporter of the organic-

EXCHANGE STUDENT
Boulder Hiroshi Shinyu from
Japan is an exchange student at CU
under the auspices of the local
Amateur Wrestling Assn, headed
by William Arnold, Jr., presi-
dent. Last April, Shinyu represent-
ed the Japan wrestling team in an
AAU tourney at San Francisco.

Colorado Springs State Sena-
tor Takahashi of the Hawaii State
Legislature accompanied die
states Lt. Gov. William Richard-
son in a visit here last week.
They toured the military installa-
tions at NORAD and the U.S. Air
Force Academy.

player, has written a "how to do it
item entitled "Bridge for Absolute
Beginners. Selling for $1 copy,

BOULDER TEAM WINNER
Provo, Utah The CU wrestling
team defeated the Brigham Young
University 25-7 in a recent wres-
tling match. The Mormon college
team's Mack Motokawa, however,
decisioned Rich. Ritthalder of CU,
9-6 in the 137 lb. division.
He'll Study Obesity
Fort Lupton Dr. Frank Koni-
shi, associate professor in the
school of home economics at the
Southern Illinois University, itwas
learned, received a $57,800 grant
from the National Institute of Arth-
ritis and Metabolic Diseases for a
three-year study of obesity's re-
lations with metabolism of fat and
liver tissues.
The educator is the son of the
George H. Konishis here.
FIRE AT MIYAKO HOTEL
Fire caused extensive damage at
the Miyako hotel, 1943 Larimer
St., Saturday night. A flourishing
Japanese hostlery afterWorldWar
II, it is now vacant and unheated.
The Fire Dept, reported that the
fire may have been caused by an
itinerant in the hotel when he tried
to start a fire in a tin can in an
effort to warm himself.

Colorado Springs Gary Yo-
shida of Alamosa was transferr-
ed to Fort Carson recently from
his previous post with the Army
in Korea.

Athens, Ohio Lorraine Sano,
CU student from Boulder, Colo.,
was among the delegates who at-
tended the recent 19th quadrennial
National Student Christian Con-
ference.
NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT of Colo. Japanese Assn., and his
predecessor, Fusakichi Takamine and Dr. Eizo Hayano, who served
nine years. Election was held last week. The 56-year-old organiza-
tion once had more than 600 members.
