Girl, 11, Managed
This Minor Intrigue
Fort Carson, ColoradoSprings -
With some adult help, 11-year-
old Susan Dalto managed this minor
intrigue*
While the incident began here
the other day, it climaxed at San
Francisco International Airport*
There, while her mother, Mrs*
Kazue Dalto, left to buy two air-
line tickets to Japan, Susan sped
to a telephone booth* The girl de-
cided she preferred to return to her
father, Warrant Officer Joseph
Dalto at Fort Carson, rather than
to accompany her divorced mother.
Susan, following her father's
phoned instruction, next called the
sheriff, carefully told him the
location of the booth where she was
using the phone. Soon, the sheriff
found Susan and arranged for the
child's reunion with her father.
There was no follow-up report on
her mother, who had reportedly
used visiting privileges to pick up
the child at Fort Carson, and had
flown together to San Francisco.
