While Councilman Elvin Cald-

vate enterprise might acc ompa lis h
the same objectives.

by many of city's top womens
dress designers, includingMary
Takahashi. She wears in accom-
panying photo an apparel of her
own design, an Avacado green wool
dress.
Models will wear ten of Mrs.
Takahashis creations at the fash-
ion show. Last weekend, she had
finished all but two of the dress-
es, and she was in the flurrying
midst of applying her creative tal-
ent to complete them before dead-
line.
A most satisfying career, she
admitted about her work, but hectic
at times such as these in the
dwindling hours before a show. Un-
like some other designers, Mary
Takahashi personally works on
every stage of the work ona dress,
from conceiving its design, selec-
tion of cloths, to sewing it. Why
not hire a seamstress? Tried it
often, she admitted, but hadnt
found a person do that work as she
wishes it done.
The Takahashi-designed dress-
es have been selected for fashion
shows here for the pastnine years.
The CARE show will be repeated
Mar. 4 at the Broadmoor in Colo-
rado Springs.
Many of her stylings bear im-
prints of Japanese and Chinese
influences, such as in her use of
obi effects, and upon her emphas-
es on a dress's elegance, as well
as simplicity.
