ANTICIPATION
With .the new year just
around the cornei; the 1S42
football season will fade
into just another football
memory* With it will go
the memories of the touch
football league whi,al-
though it started late,
found itself in the centers
athletic spotlight# These
games may not have "been
what the boys had wished
for or had been used to,
but they satisfied the
craving for sports and
gradually found their place
in the hearts of the nisei.
With the closing of the
football season, 'basket-
ball players will receive
top sports "billing. Plans
are already underway to
form "baskefball leagues in
tlie center, yet wheu they
will "be carried out is yet
to be decided.
Like t o uc h football,
"basketball will be bucking
strong resistance. *But as
in touch football, an under-
standing attitude on the
part of sports fans is ne-
cessary to carry out a suc-
cessful basketball program.
OK GIBES SPORTS
We have heard many com-
ments from feminine sports
enthusiasts about the lack
of girlsVsports activities
in the center, yet we find
that p.o steps whatsoever
have been taken by them.
Because w e ,like many
others, believe that such
a program is of vital ne-
cessity for the welfare of
girls--not only e few, but
all girls in the centor
we are urging that something
be done and done very
quickly.
MAGGOTS
Tue game that will ha-
ve much to do in deciding
the center1 s American leer
gue gridiron championship
is in store for the fans
tomorrow as two xrndcfGat-
ed and untied teams, the
&idesto Skookwus and the
Moiig Gong Maggots, fight
it out in tlie first game
starting at 1j30 p*m. on
tne 9G playground.
With three victories
tucked snugly under their
"belts, the Skookums headed
by Soapy MiyasMn^L wlio
will operate beliind such
hard-charging and 'blocking
tee^mnatee as Peanuts Hirai,
Miles Haxnada, and Katsumi
Uyeda, will .enter the field
a decided favorite.
The .Maggots will rely
on their.cclarful MckfieliS
quertei of Hiro Ito, 9uggy
I^ssaki, Pete Oia, and Goro
Sesaki. Tuough. their line

into an ecrly lead and com-

In the second game of
the evening, the Pirates
completely out-classed the

them "back with an embarras-

Although the victors
had a definite he.1it ad-

couldn't come near th9 class
of their opponents# After
running up a 27-5 lead in
the half, the Pirates
shov/ed pity for their prey
by letting up on the press-

they finished in great
fesaion.
Harold Rice, Jack Tyner
