Three years ago this November, Colorado voters approved Amendment 64, which not only legalized cannabis in this state, but allowed the country’s first recreational sales of marijuana startingon January 1,2014. Since then, Colorado has continued to lead the way, with both state and local agencies coming up with ways to work with the suddenly booming industry. And on November 5 and 6, the City of Denver will host the first-ever Marijuana Management Symposium at the Colorado Convention Center.
“As the first major city in the world to develop tools for the regulation, enforcement and education around legalized, commercialized marijuana, Denver has become the global model for local governments that are adjusting to legalized marijuana or facing the possibility of future legalization,” says Ashley Kilroy, executive director of Marijuana Policy for Denver. She’ll speak at the symposium, along with Andrew Freedman, Colorado’s Director of Marijuana Coordination, and Lewis Koski, director of Colorado’s Enforcement Division. Find more information at DMMS2015.com.
And for a look at just how big— and innovative — the cannabis industry has gotten, keep reading.
