General Note:
View of the Colorado Building at 1615 California Street from the roof of the Equitable Building at 730 Seventeenth (17th) Street in the Central Business District of Denver, Colorado. Shows the back of the shaped parapet and facade addition. This building was originally constructed as a five-story red brick Chicago-style commercial building known as the Hayden, Dickinson, and Feldhauser Building (architect John W. Roberts, 1891). In 1909, the owners added two stories designed by architect Frank E. Edbrooke. In 1935, architect Jacques Benedict gave the building a face lift by adding an Art Deco terracotta overlay. At that time, the building was renamed the Colorado Building.
